During this week in Jerusalem Satan inclined the heart of Judas Iscariot to betray his Master to the Jewish rulers. He agreed that for thirty pieces of silver he would find an opportunity to deliver Jesus unto them. Thinking that no one knew he joined the disciples for the Passover.
Jesus sent two of His disciples to prepare the Passover in an upper room. After they had eaten the Passover Jesus broke bread and poured out wine instituting the sacra- ment of the Lord’s Supper. The bread and wine represented the body of Jesus which was to be broken and His blood which would be shed upon the cross. At this time Jesus told the disciples that one of them would betray Him.
After Judas left them Jesus took the eleven into the garden of Gethsemane to pray. Judas also knew about this place and came with a band of men to capture Jesus. Jesus gave Himself freely and willingly to fulfill the Scriptures and to save sinners.
