Jesus taught many lessons by way of parables. Each of these have a specific lesson not only for those to whom Jesus told it but also for us.
In the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus taught who our neighbour is and what it means to love our neighbour.
The parable of the Foolish Rich Man is a warning that we may be busy and we may be rich but that there is one thing needful before we die.
The parable of the Great Supper teaches us that if we continue to make excuses not to hear the Gospel and to come unto Jesus, God will turn to the Gentiles and they shall be saved.
